MBTI Ethical charter of the MBTI

Ethical charter of the MBTI
The aim of the MBTI indicator is to promote self-awareness and knowledge of others and the development of individuals and teams. It must never be used to restrain or limit choices and in particular must never be used as a selection tool.
The MTBI approach must only be used under conditions whereby it is used correctly and the results are guaranteed to be kept confidential. This means that the indicator must only be used on people who have agreed and that the type will not be sent to third parties except with the express agreement of the individual(s) involved.
The results must only be disclosed in an individual interview or work group and the type that is revealed by the questionnaire will always be discussed with the individual involved during the session.
This session will be conducted by a qualified practitioner. The fact that the questionnaire may be administered by a qualified practitioner does not authorise an unqualified consultant to "recreate the results".
The polarities and their various combinations (types, temperaments etc.) must always be described in positive terms, without stereotyping or prejudice. It is important to specify that the MBTI highlights spontaneous tendencies and not capabilities or aptitudes.
In this respect, it is necessary to specify that the "scores" and the index which is derived from them only show the clarity with which the preference is revealed by the questionnaire and in no way indicates the strength of the preference.
The qualified practitioner must endeavour to maintain the skills required using any means appropriate.
The practitioner must scrupulously respect the legislation of different countries regarding copyright. In particular, he/she will not photocopy the questionnaire, answer sheets or all or part of books or brochures, except with full written authorisation from the publisher concerned.
